You can choose single or double sliding doors depending on space available, but also make your new patio door unique to your home by choosing the style you prefer.
Single sliding door
Rather than folding back on themselves like bifold doors, or opening on hinges like French doors, in a single sliding door one glass panel slides horizontally along the track, taking very little room to operate. This makes single sliding doors ideal for balconies and smaller gardens, or for rooms where there is not much floor space.
Double sliding door
Thanks to the unique construction, VELFAC double sliding doors can create an extra-wide, uninterrupted opening of up to 2.5 metres. Ideal for kitchens, dining rooms or garden rooms, each glass pane of the double sliding glass doors moves in two different directions on the track, letting more light into your home and connecting any room to the outside. VELFAC sliding exterior doors are a practical solution to open up your living space, especially when you need to save space.
One of the main benefits of a sliding double door is that it takes up very little space when open, also making it the ideal choice for narrow terraces or balconies – anywhere where space is at a premium.
The signature slim VELFAC frame design delivers a flat, seamless facade when the door is combined with other VELFAC windows, whether fixed or opening. The slim frame also improves energy efficiency meaning no cold spots, and full use of floor space right up to the glass.
Our sliding doors are easy to operate and are available in two different versions:
Standard threshold: 70mm
Low threshold: 24mm
The low threshold sliding door has a major benefit to those that need to move inside and out their home using a wheelchair, a buggy or pram, making the access to your house even easier.
Both styles feature the same beautiful slim profile, high security , excellent energy performance and are Part Q compliant, and can be manufactured to create up to 1.2 metres free opening.

Installed on side-mounted hinges, double casement doors – also known as French doors – are easy to operate and constitute a popular solution for many homeowners who want to open up their homes to the outside space.
Casement door (French door)
VELFAC single casement patio doors are often also used to replace single windows in renovation projects. Replacing a window with a patio door increases the amount of light into a room and open up your home to the outside. The sash stops at 90°, but is also available with 180° hinge which allows the sash to fold back flat against the wall.
Double casement door (Double french door)
A double casement door not only provides a greater entrance and exit, it is also an aesthetic statement that enhance any home regardless of its age or style. In addition, a double casement door provides a lot of natural light, making it a great solution to open up your home to the garden.
Juliet balcony doors
Sometimes specified where a full, walk-on balcony isn’t practical for design or budgetary reasons, Juliet balconies offers an effective way to create an open, outdoor feel to an indoor space on upper floors of a building. Suitable for a variety of homes, a Juliet balcony is essentially a balustrade fitted to the exterior of an indoor opening large window or French door.
VELFAC Inward opening French doors
The VELFAC In System consists of inward opening windows and tilt and turn casement doors in wood/aluminium. Designed for multi-storey buildings, where they offer effective ventilation with a specially designed tilt function, VELFAC in windows and doors are the perfect choice for juliet balcony doors.

The 180° hinge is not possible in combination with the handle operated brake.
In order to open fully with 180° hinge, the casement door should be set back by a maximum of 50mm from the facade.
Ventilation: Adjustable friction arms are not designed for use in windy conditions. In such conditions the door should be closed or otherwise secured.
Installation: Requires a minimum distance of 10mm for the sealant between frame and wall. If sidehung sashes are hinged next to each other, a gap of 15mm between frames is required.
To pick the best front door colour for your home, we suggest to consider the architectural style and the location of your property and the colour of the bricks or building materials used. See some examples here.
Flush doors
One advantage of a flush front door is its versatility. Because of its simple design, it can be used in a variety of settings, as it fits in a variety of building styles . Its clean lines and smooth surface make it a popular choice for architects and home owners who want to create a minimalist, contemporary look.
Glazed front doors
Glazed external doors are perfect as both front and back main doors to your home, in addition to garden and porch access. Particularly useful if you have a north facing entrance or a dark hallway these robust multipurpose doors feature large portion of glass, which enhances the appearance of the door, and brings additional natural light into your property, making all spaces and rooms immediately look larger.
Panelled doors
Panelled front doors have been used for centuries and are often associated with traditional and historic architecture.
However today, this type of front door is used to add a touch of elegance and sophistication to different styles of properties – from modern to country chic, up to traditional or period properties. One advantage of a panelled front door is its versatility. Depending on the number and size of the panels, and the materials used, a panelled front door can be designed to suit a wide range of architectural styles. For example, a door with large glass panels may be used in a modern, minimalist building, while a door with smaller, more closely spaced panels may be used in a traditional or classic styled home.
